In the trenches and away from camps, Meliorn uses a low level Seelie glamour which basically hides his fair folk appearance--but I'm totally cool with Merlin seeing right through it and noting the blue in his hair, the vine markings along his neck and face, and his pointed ears. If age is a thing he can infer, Meliorn's old as balls, so there's that, too. :)
